Hundreds of demonstrators rallied in Berlin's neighbourhood of Neukolln on Saturday, as they held a demonstration in support of Palestine on Nakba Day.

Chaos erupted in the middle of the rally, with protesters clashing with police forces leading to arrests. Bottles and other objects were also hurled towards police who responded with pepper spray.

The annual event, known in Arabic as Al-Nakba ('the catastrophe'), commemorates the exodus of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes after the formation of the State of Israel in 1948.
