Global Challenges III : Will competition or cooperation define the future of science and technology?

Since the current European Commission took office, the concept of technology sovereignty or ‘open strategic autonomy’ has risen back up the political agenda. According to the Science|Business Technology Strategy Board, the key underlying issue is defining more clearly the conditions under which technology will thrive in Europe, as well as how a confident Europe can both collaborate and compete on the global stage. This session will feature the launch and discussion of a new Science|Business Declaration calling for a rethink on how we draw the difficult lines between protected and open innovation for the benefit of humanity.
