Theaters in U.S likely to reopen in fall 2021; UK accelerates vaccination program as Germany tops 40,000 deaths

A U.S. top health expert says theaters may likely reopen some time in the fall of 2021,... as COVID-19 vaccinations are picking up pace in the U.S.
Meanwhile, in Europe, the UK is rapidly racing towards its COVID-19 vaccine target,... and Germany has reached a grim milestone in COVID-19 deaths.

With COVID-19 vaccinations on the way, theaters in the U.S. seem likely to reopen in the fall of 2021.
This is according to the New York Times on Saturday, citing U.S. top infectious disease expert, doctor Anthony Fauci, who was speaking at a conference held by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals.
In order to safely perform and have audiences in theaters, Fauci said the country must first reach a sufficient level of herd immunity.
This would mean vaccinating 70 to 85 percent of Americans.
On top of successful vaccination, Fauci added that theaters could reopen with the least restrictions,… if they have good ventilation and people wear masks.
Over in the UK, the country is accelerating towards its vaccine target.
According to the UK's health secretary Matt Hancock on Sunday, around 2 million people have already received the shot against COVID-19.… with 200-thousand being vaccinated every day.
Hancock added that the country aims to vaccinate some 14 million people by mid-February.
This would mainly be comprised of the elderly, people who are clinically vulnerable, and health workers.
Meanwhile, Germany hit a new grim milestone in COVID-19 deaths,… as it surpassed the 40,000 mark on Sunday.
With the worst yet to come, according to the Chancellor of Germany, the country decided to further tighten and extend its nationwide lockdown.
Under the tighter rules, which started Sunday local time, people will only be allowed to meet with one other person besides family members in public.
The nationwide lockdown with the newly imposed measures is expected to last until the end of this month.
