After a smooth 45-minute ride through central Germany, D-AIWK, Lufthansa’s las ever delivered sharklet-A320(ceo) is getting ready to approach Berlin-Tegel Airport on a cloudy yet beautiful summer day in June.
After touching down smoothly on Runway 26R, the aircraft, which was one of the first to feature Lufthansa’s new shorthaul cabin, only had a short taxi time to the Gate. One could clearly see the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on Tegel airport, which was almost ghost-like, due to Lufthansa cutting more than half of their flights to and from Berlin-Tegel. Officials had also discussed to close the airport early and move operations entirely to Berlin-Schönefeld, this plan was rejected though, the airport is said to stay open until November, to be closed with the highly anticipated opening of the new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport.
Due to the ongoing Fovid-19 crisis, deboarding was enforced be rows, everyone was requested to keep seated until his row had been called, only 6 rows at a time were allowed to get up and leave the aircraft.
