Costa Rica is witnessing a COVID-19 crisis. The number of infections last month doubled to more than 67,000 and 810 people died, the most since the start of the pandemic.
A second COVID wave - worse than the first - is keeping away most tourists who usually flock to the country.
The United States has promised to make 80 million vaccines available globally. However, in his visit to Central America this week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said it would be another two weeks before details could be announced.
Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from San Jose, Costa Rica.
