I am presenting you three updates from Tesla's 3 gigafactories: Giga Texas Model Y casting test, Giga Berlin production update, and Giga Shanghai expansion update.

Tesla is performing Model Y Giga Press casting tests at Texas factory.

According to Joe Tegtmeyer, who also flies drones over the site to track progress, a source close to the operation in Austin says that the first test casting was completed by Giga Press #1. The Giga Press is a large casting machine from IDRA, an Italian manufacturer. Tesla has utilized the Giga Press for the Model Y’s single-piece rear casting.

“I was given information by a reliable on-site source that late last evening…the first test casting was completed by Gigag Press #1! This was a Model Y rear casting,” Tegtmeyer said.

The second is about Giga Shanghai not experiencing production ‘halt’ or delays. Workers at the site indicated to a Global Times reporter that there are plenty of things going on that will help Tesla increase its production volume at the site.

“Several expansion projects in the park are being carried out simultaneously, and the expansion project for the plant’s phase two construction is at the stage of ceiling planking,” one construction worker who is on-site told the Global Times.

Another worker who builds ventilation pipes said that “construction is approaching the end, and the workload has been reduced.”

The third update is about Giga Berlin's production start. According to unconfirmed rumors from an unnamed source, Giga Berlin will start work only in early 2022, which is not true. The Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Energy Jörg Steinbach expects production to begin this year. local politicians believe the site could begin operation as soon as late-summer.
